 pportunity for participants to explore different folding strategies fo
 r surface approximation. Folding as a production method  and as a des
 ign paradigm has recently become the focus of interest in several area
 s and especially in architecture.   From freeform surface approximatio
 n to deployable and/or  lightweight sandwich structures a wide range 
 of architectural and design applications is feasible. This workshop wi
 ll introduce several folding design strategies, from modular isometric
  origami to reticular structures created from linear folded stripes.  
  During the workshop participants will explore folding through physica
 l and digital modeling. As the workshop will show different approaches
  and techniques different software packages will be used, including Rh
 ino / Grasshopper and Mathematica. Basic skills with Rhino / Grasshopp
 er are required for productive participation.\n\nFor more information
