SUMMARY:Emerging Skins
DESCRIPTION:The Architecture of the Human Body and its evolving symbio
sis with Technology; Envisioning body extensions, as physical integrat
ion elements that combine aesthetics and functionality. Aiming to prov
ide a critical environment for speculation on the possible transformat
ions of the contemporary human body. \n\nThe workshop focuses on t
he research of geometrical explorations, aesthetic behavior of generat
ive patterns and material performance through medium between computati
onal design, digital fabrication and  traditional sartorial technique
s in haute couture fashion. \n\nBy integrating Design, Fashion and
Architecture, the relationship between digital patterns and the human
body will be crucial in order to adopt a contemporary language and tr
anslate it to a design that is both functional and physically appealin
 g.  \nIn Biology, tissues are organizations of similar cells that are
composed of organs and living organisms. Due to the specific qualitie
s of singles cells, some peculiar functions of the tissue emerge; cond
itioning its effectiveness and determining its’ contribution to the
life of the organism. The same biological principles can be applied to
any design: when the designer explores these particular parametric st
rategies, it is important to work with a tool that provides efficient
feedback and allows one to easily introduce a wide range of variations
leading to significant qualities for a design evolutionary process.\n
\nThe workshop aims to produce full human scale 1:1 prototype weara
ble garments, in which will be exhibited during Milan Design Week in A
 pril 2017 at SBODIO32 Exhibition.\n\nDates: 18th April - 23rd March 20
