SUMMARY:Digital Design and Production in Architecture
DESCRIPTION:The workshop Digital Design and Production in Architecture
  (1-15 July 2016), organized by INDEXLAB – Politecnico di Milano, ha
 s the objective to offer a new vision on architecture and its manufact
 uring methodologies.\nThe workshop aims at bringing together visionary
  companies, advanced designers and innovation-oriented students to env
 ision new synergies between academic research, architectural practice 
 and industrial production.\n \nThe two-weeks long program is formulat
 ed in two complementary modules:\nDuring the first module – Algorith
 mic Design for Architecture (1-6 July 2016) – participants will be i
 ntroduced to the tools and methods of computational design through the
  Grasshopper software platform. The aim is to allow the exploration of
  algorithmic modeling of nonstandard forms, as well as to understand t
 he implications of fabrication methodologies in the realization of suc
 h geometries.\nThe second module – Digital Construction Design and R
 obotic Fabrication (7-15 July 2016) – will focus on robotic fabricat
 ion methodology, with the final aim of designing and fabricating a ful
 l-scale installation integrating innovative materials and efficient �
 �design to production” parametric routines.\n \nTogether, the prese
 nted modules aim at providing the participants with relevant skills to
  design complex geometries and define innovative digital production me
 thods for architecture and the construction industry.\nEach module is 
 an independent self-contained package. In this way, the workshop offer
 s the possibility to participants to select their attendance for only 
 one of the modules. However, in order to achieve a complete vision ove
 r the new methods for design and production of architecture, the works
 hop faculty recommends the participation to both modules.\n \nFaculty
