DESCRIPTION:Trans-computational membranes 5.0 will continue exploring 
 computational design methods through the use of digital-analogue exper
 imentation. With the focus on flexible materials, we have developed la
 rge scale pavilions and installations during the last three years of r
 esearch, seamlessly integrating physical simulations into the design p
 rocess. This has facilitated the development of Open Source generative
  digital design tools, enabling the digital manipulation of flexible m
 aterials. This year’s workshop will continue further with this resea
 rch, deploying advanced fabrication into digital design tools. Worksho
 p participants will not only explore new design methods, but also adop
 t novel manufacturing techniques, focusing on robotic fabrication of f
 lexible structures. AAVSMadrid 2017 will therefore expand its domain f
 rom the digital to the physical in a seamless workflow, where design a
 nd fabrication not only coexist, but also interweave at every step.\n\
