SUMMARY:AA Istanbul Visiting School 2011
DESCRIPTION:In spring 2011, the AA will hold its first Istanbul Global
  School in collaboration with Istanbul Technical University. This 10 d
 ay long intensive team-based workshop, taught by recent AA graduates/ 
 AA staff, will explore tall structures through vertical growth algorit
 hms by focusing on local crafts.\n \nThe parametric toolset for the s
 tudios will be Rhino, Grasshopper, scripting within Grasshopper using 
 VB.net, and Processing. The exploration of diverse parametric platform
 s and their associated outcomes will enable the participants to grasp 
 the discrete approaches taken towards parametric design. The students 
 are expected to organize themselves into teams of 3-4 people. After a 
 brief common module that introduces students to Rhino, Grasshopper, Pr
 ocessing, and a scripting crash course, the studio will be split into 
 units, focusing on the same objectives with different briefs.\n \nThe
  deadline for applications is 18 March 2011. A late deadline of 1 Apri
 l 2011 is also in effect, but this will incur a £50 surcharge. Applic
