Can I get the basic algorithm to make expanded metal sheets ? thanks

I am also new to kangaroo and I've been trying to figure out how to do something very similar to this using hinges. I have been looking at your old script as a reference and I cannot quite understand the logic behind the spring that connects the pull point to two other points on your surface. On what basis do you pick those two points and why are you only using the X and Z component of your pull point to create the lines. I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know.

Thank you!

Thanks Ben! The problem is that my def. with hinges is part of a huge model and right now I don't have the time to extract the Kangaroo part and clean it. I'll gladly post an example here hen I find/make the time. Until them I encourage you to try to modify the one with Bend forces, it should follow a very similar logic. Basically the Kangaroo setup should look like the image I posted here, but since the pieces in this case are flat, there's no need to subdivide them.

I am new to kangaroo, my apologies.  this looks totally cool, and looks like it could be a vital part of a school project I am working on at SCI-Arc.  Any chance you could share the new def with hinges?  thanks

Thanks, the definition is available here.

Comments:
- there're some old GH version components in there

- this was done using the Bend Force, because Hinge hadn't been introduced yet. Now I would suggest to use the latter.

- the pattern is not parametric, so there's a lot of manual input involed, the def. was meant as proof of concept rather than a generic solution
