algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Experiments with buckling. First a disc is remeshed with edge length decreasing towards the boundary. Then the edges are made the same length, while preventing self-intersection, causing the surface to buckle into a hyperbolic shape. Definition here:

I added fatness, symmetry, and a second generation.  It made a sea slug.

3D Print of a version of the script by Daniel came out particularly nicely!

@Cho Chung Man - This is purely exploration with algorithms/geometry, I didn't have a particular application in mind, though it is guided by a general sense that studying buckling/curvature phenomena like this could inform structural applications.

@Mateusz - In this video the black edge is just GH custom preview of a curve, with line thickness increased in the Rhino display settings. The flickering is GH mesh lines conflicting with this edge curve. I do often use mesh pipe for other things though, and if you are going back and fixing bugs in it it would be great if you could include a line to update the normals!

seems very interesting...
hmm what you think this work could be? architecture? or...

@Daniel - is the edge thickened with mesh pipe ? Flickering is quite annoying... there are some stupid bugs in the mesh tools, I should probably fix them.

Hi Martin, no - just inspired by them

Daniel, are you working for nervous systems?

*haha and obviously I meant Daniel, not David...
