Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I have a mesh that I've produced on Grasshopper, I'd like to use Karamba as a tool for structural analysis and finding where the weak points of the mesh are.

I've used this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_znWGFvZImM as a start to try analyse it but I've been running into the same problems where it just wants to crash and even after giving it time to simulate the whole screen becomes red and when I zoom out I can see the lines have gone crazy and looks like a pile of straw from a haystack.

I have put all the settings on as low as possible but still the simulation brings the same results. I have set the supports for all the points at the base of the geometry.

I am not expecting the structure to stand up, but just to grab a visual of anything which explains its structural weaknesses is all I'm after.

The image I have attached has a lot of faces, but I have brought this much, much further down and still produced the same results.

The file is too big to put here but I am more than welcome to share it.

Hi Leonardo,

how large is the maximum displacement you get (the value can be read off from the 'Analysis'-compontent's 'Disp' output-plug)?

Try to scale down the displacements. In case the number range of the Deformation-slider in the 'ModelViewcomponent is not sufficient, double-click on the knob to change it.

In order to test your structure try to scale it down.

Best,

Clemens
