algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone.

I have this kind of ring, I want to print it but it doesn't need too much material between the holes.I was using Kangaroo, taking the Mesh Edges to optimize them.

I've used this command before but not with closed Meshes.

I don't know if it's the best way to get organic forms spending least material.

Cheers.

Hi Kevin

You spring component didnt work it's because your lines lengths are smaller than rhino file tolerance, then kangaroo will consider them as 0. Go to Unit setting and modify it. Btw i just wondering why you are working with such a minimal scale?

Other issue is that after refining your mesh you have too many points to deal with, except you have a super pc, this will cause a lot of time(with my solution). So i made a simple version of what you want(maybe not exactly an 'organic form'). Maybe you can refine the mesh after optimization.

Any improvements appreciated.
