Galapagos crash while running Energy+ optimization analysis via HoneyBee/Ladybug

Dear staff of Galapagos,
we are trying to conduct an optimization simulation with Galapagos. We are trying to find the ideal configuration of trees around a house to get the lower energy consumption in summer (the fitness function is the energy consumption output of the Energyplus simulation, the genome are tree sliders that position the trees around the house). The connection with Energy plus software is done through Ladybug and Honeybee plug-ins.

Unfortunately we never managed to get to the end of the Galapagos run due to crash.

Any idea what could be the reasons? We have already tried on two different PC operating systems Windows 8 and Windows 7, starting Rhinoceros as administrators

Dear Filippo,

did you finally manage to give a reply to this problem you faced? I'm going to run some optimization processes using Energy+ with HoneyBee too and I'm interested in the troubles I could potentially face.

Regards,
Claudio

Hi Claudio,

the answer is unfortunately nope, even if for easy problems after a certain number of iteration I think there's no point in pushing forward the optimization risking a crash, at present I think it's better to settle for an appropriate number of iterations being aware of the limitations of the process (local minima etc ...).

Hi Claudio and Filippo, I just saw this. My suggestion would be replacing all the dynamic selection components and also adding a delay before the final collector component. I wanted to test the file but it was an older version. I'm interested to test the file locally and see if I can find a solution to this problem however it looks to be from Galapagos since Honeybee runs fine if you run series of analysis using other methods.
