Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I'm actually using ASUS Xtion Pro Live instead of Kinect.

I was trying to connect the motion into grasshopper by firefly.

(The hand tracking .gh file i was using is created by Andy Payne)

I attached two photos, the first pic is my situation, and second pic is a successful example found on youtube, for comparison.

Brekel Kinect can detect my skeleton well and the NiViewer (by OpenNI) also show normal live capture. However, it fails in grasshopper (including Quokka, same situation, the Xtion is even not detecting things).

From the photo comparison, there is nothing in the Node ID panel, is it because it only works for Kinect instead of Xtion?

FYI,

Windows 7 64bit

Rhino 5 64bit

Grasshopper: 0.9.0076

Firefly: 1.0.0.68

Kinect SDK: v1.6

Thanks!

Hi Henrik,

Unfortunately, I doubt this is possible mainly because the Firefly Kinect tool uses the Microsoft Kinect SDK to retrieve its data (ie. color, depth, skeleton, etc.).  OpenNI is one way to connect to the sensor (many early applications used OpenNI to connect to the sensor before the official Kinect SDK came out).  However, Firefly's kinect tools do not use OpenNI and instead use the standard Kinect SDK.  As such, I doubt it will be possible to use a different sensor.
