Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I have been working on collisions with Kangaroo trying to simulate a fabric drapping over a scanned body. The mesh used as cloth is quadrangular and triangulated, and the scanned mesh is only triangulated, but in a much more dense grid.

For some reason, the MeshCollision component is not reading the scanned body and pass straight through the geometry. But it works perfectly when I build a simple geometry simulating a body, made of stretched ellipse, cylinder and torus, and used as base geometry

Does anyone has a suggestion, of either how to simplify the scanned mesh, or anyother solution. The base geometry is scanned using a Kinetic, connected to Kinect2STL and joined at MeshLab.

Many thanks.

best,

Hi Andre,

Since it is working in the file you posted, it seems the problem is with the scanned mesh - but without seeing this mesh it is difficult to know for sure the problem, though I'm guessing maybe it isn't a closed solid?

If you run the Rhino MeshRepair command on it does it give you any warnings about naked edges?

Hi Daniel, thanks for the quick reply. I ran the Mesh Repair, and in fact there are naked edges. I will fix the mesh and run the definition once again.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
