Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Respraying my old GT Transeo 1.0 bike at the moment. This is the decal design I settled on for the time being. The font is based on Ayosmonika which has some lovely ligatures out of the box, to which I added a few. Grasshopper was used to parse a 100,000+ English word database to find all the words which had a large ligature/symbol ratio. From this I selected two that seemed to work well together.

I heard Guybrush Threepwood play at the Electric Banana in Williamsburg a few years ago. Don't look for it, it's not there anymore. But that night I heard a band that for me redefined the word "rock and roll".

There's some nice details there but I wonder if the "X" cutouts cause any durability (frame strength) or maintenance (water/grime infiltration) issues.

Certainly an issue, but more important is that you really don't want a fixie while biking in the Alps :)

yes i wondering about that too. both x's are in places where you definitely do not water or dirt.

There was someone a while back that came up with a frame generator definition...  This maybe? Of course the joint prep and fabrication part is the non-trivial bit.

Matt's bike looks pretty sick! There's some nice details there but I wonder if the "X" cutouts cause any durability (frame strength) or maintenance (water/grime infiltration) issues.

Crayfish Maybush calls for a red/green colour scheme I think. The current one is yellow/anthracite (I was going to go for brown/pink as that is very theftproof, but the shop only carried "cool" colours). It also makes me think of Guybrush Threepwood...

"Where's a "before" pic of the bike?"

Haven't started painting yet, only just ordered the vinyls this weekend. Frame still needs stripping and sanding and priming and .... and .... and.

"W" almost seems like it want to join up with Ay...

I tried to merge them, but couldn't make it look good.
