Did it slightly different now and tried to introduce an analysis grid over the ground plane. That's pretty much what I need anyway. It seems to do something and calculates something in Ecotect but the values are all 0. Any idea? Is it just a matter of scale?

you did only one little mistake, you forgot to switch from object to grid

Thanks for that. Getting there step by step.

Came across another problem... Try to calculate the radiation on the facade panels or the building envelop in general. I based it on the same lines from Rhino and worked with a linear extrusion. Ecotect seems to flip the values inside out. I think because the geometry is not capped. I tried everything in GH to get a straight extrusion with a cap from a simple line from Rhino. No success so far.

Any idea how to model it clean and still have control over the quad size/number?

Hi Peter,

if you create curves in rhino and you want to have the surface normals pointing outwards make sure you have created them clockwise otherwise the topology of the geometry is wrong and you will always get wrong results

Quick question: Is it possible to transfer the visibility analysis results on a 2D analysis grid to Rhino?

Hi Mete,

it is possible to transfer any Grid which was precalculated within Ecotect to GH.

Just use the ImportAnalysisGridComponent and the MeshGridComponent.

Hello,

 

I am running some high resolution daylighting analysis. If the ecotect simulation takes more than 5 minutes or so, grasshopper stops paying attention to Ecotect and my simulation does not complete. Is there anyway to change grasshopper's settings to give it a longer attention span.

The Analysis does not stop (ecotect will finish your calculation)

This Timeout is a security reason and also let the user continue his/her work in RH

after it is finished just refresh the ecotectlink and request the final analysis

Thank you. I had set up all of my Geco components in a domino chain. I'll have to put in another boolean toggle to remind Grasshopper to get the results once the simulation is complete.

Sorry to follow up this response a little late but i'm having the same problem recently while running simulation with iteration by Galapagos, once the Timeout problem occurred the results could no more feed to other conponents even if it's possible to retrieve the results manually.

For this I'm really desperate to ask are there any possibility to turn of this Timeout so to last through the whole simulation?

i have encountered a problem in importing an analysis grid from ecotect into grasshopper:

the resulting mapped mesh shows different values from the ecotect one. 

i tried to change the mesh UV subdivision and i obtain one "acceptable" result but it seems that the U and the V are flipped! 

attached are some screen shots, the last one shows the "acceptable" result
