Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi!

I want to unroll a mesh with colors (see attached image) using the orange peel component.

I want the flat parts to keep the colors of the original mesh.

What's the best way to do this? is it even possible?

Thanks!

Not for now... Maybe in the future.

Hi Andrei,

Thanks for your reply.

I managed to do this eventually though I had to "flatten" the gradient so that every mesh triangle has a solid color. I even made a "color bleed" that passes the cutting lines.

The colors in this project were printed prior to laser cut:

P.S.:

The flattening of the colors was necessary only for saving the graphics as a vector .ai file (for print) using the human plugin.

It is possible to transfer also gradient colors to the unrolled orange peels.

Great. I guess you can use vertex color if you manage to get the vertex numbers from the original mesh. I meant ivy does not readily provide them or transfer colors automatically. I'm glad you could find a workaround.
