Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi.

I'am trying to create the serpentine pavillion 2016 by Bjarke Ingels.

I have started with just 1 box and put on some loads ect.. This seems to work, but when I move on to 3 boxes I'm having trouble to get the boxes to work together correctly.

I can't find the problem? It seems like the three boxes rotate instead of a regular deformation.

See attached file.

Hi Troels,

the data-tree input of the Assemble-component caused the creation of multiple, incomplete models. If you flatten the input only one model results (see attached file).

Thank you very much.

I'm not sure why the Assemble-component causes the creation of multiple, incomplete models?

Can you quickly explain why - if it isn't so simple, then never mind :)

Best Regards,

Troels

Hi Troels,

by default it is not possible to program loops in Grasshopper. Instead there are lists, data trees (these are nested lists) and the shortest list principle.

The right handling of data trees can make your definitions very concise and general. It's probably best if your read through the corresponding chapters of one of the Grasshopper tutorials which are freely available on the internet.

Best,

Clemens
