algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello Djordje,

I'm running gismo since several days to perform benchmarks and creating automated generation context and export to use in game engines.

Today, I was trying to test this location (https://goo.gl/maps/jVGjc3cGnL52) to see if my definition works great or not onto waterway elements. Using the Terrain Generator from gismo, I get a "invalid brep" error onto the terrain output. The geometry seems to work for simple tasks, but when I try to to some boolean and cutting operation, it fails.

Did you have any idea or clue why the error ?

Hi Mathieu,

No need for apology, Gismo is actually getting better because of users like you!
Unfortunately I can not install Heron in order to see how does it obtain the Bing satellite images. I am still using a 32 bit processor, while Heron's libraries require a 64 one.
Apart from that, I need to understand how Bing, MapQuest satellite data will go along with other raster and vector data sources which Gismo uses, which means I would have to read their Terms of use pages, which is something I am reluctant to do, at least at the moment.

Maybe you can obtain the Bing satellite images from Heron plugin and use it in Gismo definitions?

By the way, what would you do with the Bing satellite imagery coupled with OSM 2d/3d shapes?

I just got the same error about the OSM Shapes components not resolving with the toggle switch between False and True. I re-install MapWinGIS without doing anything else, and the error is not there anymore. So, the trick is to simply re-install MapWinGIS by overwritten the existing install, at least for now it seems.

You're right about the satellite image, maybe it's not useful to have it into Rhino. I was just thinking that it could be great to extract the image directly from Grasshopper, saving it into a folder, and using it in Game Engines as a simple texture or material mapped on the terrain geometry. But I guess the resolution of the image will not be enough to have interesting details. So let's see, I'll give it a try with Heron when I'll have next little freetime.

The next time when you get the "invalid shapes" warning, can you please save your .gh file, close that .gh file from Grasshopper, and attach in in here? So do not turn of the "OSM shapes" component or do anything else. Just save the .gh file, close it, and attach it.
Also attach the gdal-data/osmconf.ini file.

Okay about Heron. Let's see how it will end up.

Edit: I would also be grateful if you would attach the whole gismo/osm_files/yourLocation_radius folder as well. If it is too large to be attached (Grasshopper forum supports maximal attachment quota of 5mb) than you can upload it somewhere and post a link here.

Everything is ok. Your osmconf.ini file has been set up correctly, the shapefiles are correct and correspond to the settings you defined for the first "OSM shapes" component (the one at the top left).
I have no idea what could be causing the issue on your PC.
Does the "invalid shapes" warning go away, when you now rerun the "OSM shapes" component?
Do you think it would be possible, if we could connect our PCs with TeamViewer, or any similar remote connection application? You can stop the connection at any point.
