algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I'm an advanced Rhino & GH user, but total beginner with Kangaroo.  I'm trying to setup a basic hinge that stops when the two halves crash into each other (think of a hinged bracelet).  I can make the hinge open/close (although it's flying all over the place, but that's another story).  Is there anyone who could work up a simple example of collision detection for me to learn from?

Thanks so much,

dh

Hi Declan,

Sorry for taking a while to reply,

Attached is a modification to your file showing how we can add 2 lines and use the ClampAngle goal to limit the angle.

Does that help?

Hi Daniel,

I am also new to Kangaroo 2. Is there a way to achieve the same effect using the Hinge?

Thx!

Is the file posted in this discussion helpful?

Yeah it is helpful! However you are using points Coincident instead of the Hinge to achieve the effect. I wonder about the reason why you didn't use the Hinge.

I don't follow?

I was referring specifically to the file hingepass.gh in that discussion which uses a modified hinge goal - there isn't any coincident goal there.

Oh I didn't see the link "this discussion". My fault......

Thank you Daniel!!
