algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I am trying to create a house/unit with a semi-basement and an attic floor. I created (or tried to) Air Walls between the "basement" zone and the "1st floor zone" and between the "3rd floor zone" and the "Attic floor" as I named them. I then assign materials, schedules, properties etc but from the analyses I understand that the Air Walls are not considered Air walls but normal ceilings/floors. To double check I ran a Daylight analysis on the "basement's" surface to examine if I had any daylight. Unfortunately answer is none. I also check my E+ which also showed that there is no Air Walls in the analysis. I went through all available tuttorials and discussions and followed what is in the example files. Profoundly is something that I am missing and due to overtime (I am modelling 47 of them with different geometries)  I cannot see.

I am attaching my gh definition in case someone can have a look and check what am I doing wrong or reading wrong or using wrong in there!

Finally I am trying to use the HB_Add InternalMass to Zone component which needs to be re-instantiated every time I open my definition, else is giving a warning or error!

Thanks in advance!

Why don't you just use findAdjacency component to set up the construction for all the interior walls? It will automatically find adjacent surfaces and set them as Air Walls.

Hello all

I created "select items" and picked the spaces with air walls and assigned "AIR WALL" material to them. Now my air walls and interior walls are correct and I checked the labels. However, there are other issues with my file now:

1) first, I want to ask if the way that I did this task was the most efficient way. Because it took me around 2-3 hours to assign spaces with air walls and separate them from other spaces and find interior walls. I had one floor plan with 31 spaces.

2) Since I fixed my air walls and interior walls by using Find Adjacency, my file crashes and freezes and it is not operating well. i could not run a Grid Based DL simulation because it crashed all the time.

3) One thing that I did different from Chris's E+ tutorial was that I added glazing before finding adjacencies. Please tell me if that is the reason that my file is crashing.

Chris, Mostapha, and HB group members, would you please look at my file and tell me if I am mistaken? My final target is to apply "integrated daylighting and energy simulation" to my floor plan. Now, I am concluding that  it is very hard to do that when you have multiple zones. Please tell me if I am wrong.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate your support.

1. You can/should use "split list" component to split the components between the two.

2. Just from the screen capture looks like you're not in control of the data flow. I suggest you to flatten the output of modified honeybee objects and also change the materials after adding the openings. Have you already intersected the walls and split them into smaller portions before solving adjacencies?

3. If you are adding the windows to particular faces which are not interior then the order won't make a difference.

Let me put a simple example together for 3 room which I hope answer most of your questions.
