Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I'm trying to create a definition for medial surface approximation, based on Daniel Piker's medial axis ghx.

The general idea is very simple: the base surface is sampled with a bunch of points which act as generators for a 3d Voronoi diagram. Border polygons between Voronoi cells which fall inside the base surface are used to create the medial surface.

The problem is that points on the medial surface border tend to jitter too much...
There are some stray points as well (which I guess I could try to remove by checking proximity 3d).

I'm looking for a way to get a fairly precise border curve for the medial surface and would really appreciate any ideas on how to do this.

Thanks,

JJ

hello!

is there any way to obtain a medial axis w/in a 3D volume like this?

I am trying to extract the interior volume as an object instead of the negative of a Boolean operation.

I'm hoping to get a media axis between surfaces within this volume to then pipe/t-spline into a new object.

thank you,

RP
