Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello.

I want to perform a structural analysis on a vault structure.

I'm new to Karamba and the AnalyzeThI component shows an error.

I can't seem to find what is the issue here.

Could anyone help me out please?

Thank you.

Hello Erik,

your definition does not contain the geometry. Either send the Rhino-file also or internalize the geometry.

Oh right, sorry for that. Here you go.

With Karamba 1.2.1 the 'AnalyzeThI'-component does not throw an exception.
The bounding box of your model has a diagonal of length 184000[m]. I think you have to scale your geometry by 0.001 in order to work in meter. Maybe this is the source of the problem.

That worked. Thank you!

However, I cannot optimize the cross section, whereas I am doing exactly the same thing as in one of the example files.

Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

The shell elements were not given an identifier, therefore the initial cross section was not attached to them (see attached definition).
You should add asymmetric loads (e.g. via MeshLoads), otherwise the structural response is not realistic.

Best,

Clemens

Ok thank you very much Clemens.
