Third Edition of the Grasshopper Primer | Foundations Released

We are very excited to be releasing the Third Edition of the Grasshopper Primer!

http://modelab.is/grasshopper-primer/

This primer, titled Foundations, introduces you to the fundamental concepts and essential skill-building workflows to effectively use Grasshopper. Foundations is the first volume in a forthcoming collection of Grasshopper primers. This first volume tracks through an introduction to the Grasshopper user interface, the anatomy of a Grasshopper definition, and three chapters dealing with parametric concepts and case study examples. An appendix closes out this volume, providing you with resources for continued exploration.

We hope that at the very least this primer will inspire you to begin exploring the many opportunities of programming with Grasshopper. We wish you the best of luck as you embark on this journey.

The reason I want the PDF is for search.  The web version is great, much appreciated, but I'm past the stage of reading through it and need to use it as a reference.  But I can't because it has no search.

I would love to use this but the download page is broken: in Winfox it hangs forever after the signup.

Please fix, or provide a working link?

Thanks.

This is a fantastic (and beautiful) resource. The community is indebted to you! Would you consider following Daniel Shiffman's lead [1] and making the Primer open source to crowdsource corrections (and potentially translations)?

Hi all,

Thank you for the feedback! We are very happy that the Primer is a valuable resource for you. One technical note about the PDF error messages - We have found that this is the result of two scenarios: an incomplete download (try the "web" version that is a smaller file size to avoid timeouts) or an needed update to your Adobe Acrobat software. Hope this helps.

Hi Gil,
I had a "diagonal" look but I can say it looks super consistant, compact, and to the point. I like the colour scheme too. Hope it'll get read an awful lot!
Great job guys, but I sure hope I won't need it too much;)

Great job!

One minor unimportant mistake on page 60: explanation for 'time' is switched with 'trig'
