Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

As rhino entered the WIP phase it would be an interesting idea to speed up the Grashopper osx development. I think that many people and companies who now know grashoppers superior capabilities would be prepared to raise funds necessary for serious osx rescripting.

We're making sure that GH2 will run on both platforms.

whoa! that's big news

Eto as a cross platform UI framework seems to work really well for us, and with the Eto developer now working (part time) with McNeel I'm pretty confident we'll be able to solve whatever problems will arise.

May be, McNeel could consider supporting the full time contract of the developer through a crowdfunding project? As Crispijn stated, I think many companies would be very grateful for all we have gotten free from GH and contribute.

It's not that we cannot afford a full time contract or would be opposed to him taking one. But Curtis has another job which he rather likes so he wants to keep it.

Dear David Rutten. That sounds really good! I read about the cross platform possibilities of grashopper 2.0 but can imagine developing the adaptations for another platform still is an enormous effort. As a favourite mac user im really impressed by the latest rhino osx release and can imagine the total switch to the osx version as grasshopper would be there ( can imagine many other students and professionals as well )

I was keeping myself away from Apple hardware because Rhino and grasshopper stuck to me to Windows and I cannot see any good point of owning an expensive Apple machine to run windows on it...So this could be the point in which I consider changing to Apple platform. Anyway there is other software that will push me back to Windows (like SAP2000 for FEA, CATIA,...)...OSx has turned into a mainstream OS that doesn't have a broad support in the "technical software" market, yet (I hope).

Anyway...rebooting to perform some structure analysis from time to time doesn't look bad at all...Let's see how all this evolve :)
