algorithmic modeling for Rhino

--

dear friends.

trying to achieve toyo ito's serpentine pavillion effect w GH.

have gotten as far as spanning geodesic lines across a surface in seemingly random patterns.

can't figure out how to identify and isolate the closed areas (cells) defined btw these lines.

saw geometry gym offers a component for this except i don't have a license yet :(

can it be achieved without a plug-in?

respectfully yours,

ognek

managed to get intersection points but don't know how to identify the closed area (cells) with these.

Hi Ognek,
I've got a massive definition that I put together for this but it does use the GeometryGym Plugin. It solves the problem easily and Jon was very helpful. Have you tried contacting him?

Regards,
David

hi david!
thanks a million -- you really nailed it.
i'm still working on my file -- the main difference being that the cells are on a curved surface.
here's the work-in-progress:

Hey Ognek,

Here are the results i get, I am wondering why the graph doesn't narrow down with time...
thanks andrea :)
Hey Oddneck !

Here are some results I get after changing couple components to make galapagos faster (delauney for patches, mesh edit tool to find area and Geometry Gym for the cells).

Great explanation for the different graphs in Galapagos:

Still wondering how we could get back to the top 10 solutions...

Cheers,

Arthur

Hey Arthur, Can you share this ghx file?

hi david. i'm not able to view your definition. i have geometryGym and its licence. i think the reason is i dont have the 3dm file. i attached the red coloured gh components and their error message.

i really need to figure this thing out quick and i should study on your definition, and it's impossible for me to understand without viewing the differing things when i play with the values. :)
i have gh 0.8.0002, i have all the GeometryGym plug-ins. what's missing :)
