algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi David

Please take a look at the image.  The offsets are on touching the boundary.  Is this a bug?  Thanks.

Hi Tuan,

which curve is the original that you offset?

sorry for the confusion. upper right edge is the orginal extracted from the suface using the brep wireframe component.
Well, an offsetted curve does not extend automatically. The end-point of the new curve is basically at a perpendicular angle to the tangent at the original end-point. Since the edge is curved inwards, the offset quickly deteriorates to zero.

The way to think of a Curve-On-Surface offset is to create a pipe around the original curve and intersect that with the surface.

Hi,

is there another way to do this- offseting a curve on a surface in a way that it intersects the whole surface?
