If you've already signed up for the AA_Aarhus Visiting School this August, here is what you can look forward to. In this exercise by one of our tutors Dave Reeves, a quad mesh is broken down into two sets of perpendicular strips (weft/warp) as a decomposition approach that is concerned with establishing continuity.

Nice quad meshing. Is it based on principal curvature / conjugate directions?
