generative modeling for Rhino
The Shelter was initially a thesis project on the manufacturability of advanced freeform architecture in concrete but when presented to the project partners there was no hesitation in the desire to construct the Shelter. Now we are halfway through the project and the Shelter is looking great. The next weeks will show whether our structural assessments were correct and our post-tension system will function as planned.
Grasshopper was used to model the wood interior and make drawings available for CNC milling.
You can follow the project at our homepage, where there is more details on the initial project.

We are working with CRC High Performance concrete which is cast in the polystyren milled moulds. The concrete parts are then tied together by a post-tensioning system.
I hope this answers your question.
