generative modeling for Rhino

Building a component with Visual C# Express 2008

While building a component with Visual C# Express 2008, the largest difficulty to overcome is arguably the setup because of the time to get accustomed to the interface and the environment.

In less than 10 minutes, this video shows how to set up Visual C# Express 2008 to produce a simple component with icon for Grasshopper (a .gha file). This video also helps new users to get familiar with the interface and goes through the key steps to effectively use the Grasshopper SDK. At best, download the original video or follow the tutorial with captions.

The post-build event contains this text:
Copy "$(TargetPath)" "$(TargetDir)$(ProjectName).gha"
Erase "$(TargetPath)"

The Guid generator is Guidgen.exe, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libra...

Grasshopper version is 0.8.004
Rhino version is 4.0 SR8
Visual C# Express 2008 SP1, registered (free)
OS is Windows 7

Hi Giulio,

Thank you so much for posting this video.

How would you compare writing a component using C# to VB.net ?

I am having a bit of troubles decompressing the video here are errors I get when decompressing the files...

Best Wishes,

Arthur
