Hi everybody!I'm very new to Rhino Python, and this feels like a stupid question, so I apologize if the answer is obvious. Is there an easy way to find the angle between a planar surface and a plane?…Continue

"Hi Adriana, you'll need to get the normal vectors for both the surface and the plane (Z-Axis for the plane). The angle between these vectors equals the angle between the planes. -- David Rutten david@mcneel.com Poprad, Slovakia"

angle of a planar surface (in Python)

Hi everybody!I'm very new to Rhino Python, and this feels like a stupid question, so I apologize if the answer is obvious. Is there an easy way to find the angle between a planar surface and a plane?  Or two planar surfaces?  The only solutions I could think of involve picking a point or vector on the surface and measuring its angle compared to some other point or vector, but that seems unnecessarily convoluted.  Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.See More

video about designing with Kinect

I'm looking for a video someone told me about but neither of us can find it.Apparently the video shows someone using a Kinect with Firefly and manipulating a surface to design a bowl.  The surface then gets sliced into layers to be laser cut.It exists somewhere on the Internet, but we can't track it down. Does this sound familiar to anyone?See More

Firefly Plug-in

Firefly offers a set of comprehensive software tools dedicated to bridging the gap between Grasshopper, (a free plug-in for Rhino) the Arduino microcontroller and other input/output devices. It allows near real-time data flow between the digital and physical worlds – enabling the possibility to explore virtual and physical prototypes with unprecedented fluidity.See More

"By only using a single direction and a point to define a plane Grasshopper is presented with an infinite possible number of solutions for the other axes. Therefore your robust method of using more constraints to define the plane prevents…"

normal vector flipping with Circle CNR

I'm trying to make a circle that travels along the circumference of another circle.  I also used Point on Curve to place a point on the moving circle.  When I use Circle CNR, the moving circle changes orientation periodicallyI've attached a file to illustrate what I'm talking about.I used Circle CNR to make the moving circle.  The center point is a point on the stationary circle and the normal vector is a vector from the center of the stationary circle to the center of the moving circle. The…See More
