the grey polygon shows the area (convex hull over the points reachable within 5 minutes on the street network) reachable within 5 minutes from the read dot.

It calculates all the area of the pedestrian, which can be achieved in 5 minute walk?
Comment by Richard Schaffranek on February 24, 2012 at 2:29am I used Elk to collect the roadmap data (so it's based on the information avalible fromopen street map) and than spiderweb to callculate the distances.
Asuming that a persons walks with 4 km/h the gray polygon marks the area reachable within 5 minutes.
The thicker blue lines is what is reachable with a maximum angular change of PI > 180°
Will add this to the next SpiderWeb release as a sample... (at the moment the definition is a mass, so I can send it to you but will not post it because I doubt that anyone can read it)
