Under the Mesh tab: Mesh WeldVertices  and Mesh UnifyNormals. Not really needed.

You just need an image file with a nice pattern, generate a good number of points, give them to the Image Sampler, and use the result to move them up or down. Then build a surface or mesh with the points and tile it.

In this example, the image is 173x173 pixels, in the Image Sampler I set the X and Y domains to 0->172 for proper tiling.

Just taking an image (generated with Gimp).

Love it....

Are you doing it from Grasshopper or taking and image and height fielding it?

ah okay, thanks for introducing me to this name (Turing). Did I mention I love it?

Aaah actually I was just toying with Turing patterns (reaction diffusion), which can be tiled.

It looks like you can tile with the spiral defect too, I need to get a better image, or a generator.

Lovely Systemiq; the spiral defect chaos I like so much!
