sorry a noobie question. what is gimp and where can i find it . is it a plug in for grasshopper?

You can generate Turing patterns with Gimp, but spiral defect generation looks quite complex.

You can find 2 types of patterns on the net for spiral defect, computer generated (which are perhaps tilable) and observations on fluids in certain conditions (I dont see any reason why these could be tiled).

Interesting stuff, thanks for your reply:) I wish I could get my head around the principle of generating these. I cleaned one up few years ago: (doesnt seem tilable however...)

It seems that spiral defect patterns are tilable (like Turing patterns). I found this one from here and cleared it a bit.
