to make some optimization similiar to the one used in project, take a look at kangaroo plugin. there are some examples to download, youll learn fast how to do it. 

indeed, there is something different - original roof topology is based on equilateral triangles, your on squares with diagonals.

well, its not that easy :) this structure (british library hall) is really well optimized, and has some different topology than yours... try lunchbox plugin for some fast and easy panneling.
