To have a parametric form finding solution for membranes would be great. I recently worked with RhinoMembrane but this plug in is not very comfortable. If there would be a grasshopper solution it would change the design process for membrane constructions completely... I am curious to see your 3d version.

not exactly,i enter a curve that is fixed in the two extremes, then give a weight, a maximun length and a rigid coefficient, then on each point calculate trough an iteration (variable) how the curves gets its own-form because of an equilibrium between the weigt and the flexibility of the curve. It's a cathenaria. Each colour is just a different stop of the iteration to see when it gets a stable position. This is in 2D, but the idea is to do it in 3D for getting the minimal energy state for a surface (like a membrane)....let's see

Hi Alejandro, this looks very interesting. Thank you for sharing. Can you explain a bit more what is happening in your definition? Are you creating a minimal surface between two splines?

Wieland
