The smoothing is done by Giulio's wonderful Weaverbird...its a bit of GH for the growth logic, then a bit of Rhinoscript, then with weaverbird (via Rhino Plugin or GH Interface) some smoothing...

Can you tell us how to make this? Or at least how to make the faceted shape become blobous?
