Understood.

Thank you for the replies and info.

Well, I think then I wouldn't have shown it here...

The Grasshopper-outcome included beams, sections, materials, joints, supports as well as some loadcases with facade-loads and traffic-loads.

Rstab as analysis tool only was used for the analysis, as it should be, that crappy thing...

Thank you for the reply Thorsten

I thought you exported only lines (axis) of the space frame to RSTAB, not the tubes itself (cross-section)?

Well, as far as I get it, he modeled something in Rhino, exported this structure directly to GSA and solved a following structural analysis. (for surfaces)

That's comparably to our work, except we did it for a huge amount of beams, handed over all necessary information for the analysis and we additionally received the results back in Grasshopper an so have been able to evaluate some parameters for the structure (grid-distance here). The results (tonnage, max. deformation/stress etc.) gave a quite nice idea of the structural behavior and we could choose the most interesting grid-distance)

I am not sure I understood you, but I will contact them.

Basically I wanted to know if the result you got for RSTAB, was something similar what Jon got for GSA Oasysis?

Hi,

I'm not sure what Jon uses for his interfaces..

What we did was to use VB-code in Grasshopper to hand-over the structure and additional informations to Rstab, based on a definition which created a spatial structure.

Most important was it to reference the rstab.ddl's within the vb component, then the standard pieces of license locking, creating rstab data out of the grasshopperdata and adding steel-informations, then handing them all over to rstab.

I recommend to contact the guys at the support line at Dlubal, and most important to have a descent look at their RS-COM helpfile and the related examples (VBA in Exel)

Thorsten, I am using both RFEM and RSTAB, and I can recognize you did this calculation in RSTAB?

Tell me how did you achieve the connection between the Rhino and RSTAB?

Take a look at this example:

The author of the video is exporting his model in Grasshopper to GSA Oasys. Are you using the similar method, but for RSTAB?
