http://www.solidcam.com/cam-solutions/imachining.html
the latest trend in the manufacturing industry? that'd be stunning (at the same time real hard) tom implement ;)
Comment by Wade Martin on November 1, 2011 at 12:38pm understood, thanks for sharing the link.
I have seen software for roughing that uses some type of sort order to have constant tool engagement not just typical raster type cutting. I'll locate the link and attach it later. it would be worth looking into as, it works very well, reduces run time and tool wear as it stays engaged in material until roughing is complete.
I currently run full three axis cutting but, moving to five or six so I like seeing whats new.
Again, thanks for sharing.
Comment by H on November 1, 2011 at 1:23am @Wade:This picture shows toolpath points for 2.5 axes spiral roughing on one layer. CAMel an open source CAM initiative is still under development: http://maxwelldemon.com/2011/09/29/camel/ For 5 axis face milling and a specific machine configuration it already generates the g-code. In this version I tried some experiments with 2.5 axes roughing techniques. In the future it is supposed to generate g-code for roughing, too.
@Michael: Yeah, thanks for letting me know. Just used it and it saved me a lot of other GH blocks :)
Comment by Wade Martin on October 31, 2011 at 2:03pm is this generating g code, not sure what I'm looking at?
if you review my page you'll see why I ask.
Comment by Michael Pryor on October 31, 2011 at 9:25am just wondering if you know that there is a contour component in recent versions of GH.
