I've tried various methods that haven't worked well and I’d like to using packrat Packrat to pack the fruits as efficiently as possible so that the form has no large spaces between fruits as this would make casting very difficult. Is this possible with Packrat? I'd be grateful for advice for how to best utilize Pakrat to do this.

Hello, Yanis.

I must say that this plug in is awesome and it has been very useful in several projects I'm working on.

I was planning to buy from you the full version, but it seems that is kinda late for me, because you're no longer supporting it.

Is there any other option to get it from you? I'm REALLY interested in it.

Hi all,

Im using packrat for a multiple container propose. As my boxes and containers are organized by branches, the ourput transformations output have the same structure i had.

but... what about the boxes themselves? why are they flatten?

Does anyone knows a way of maintain the same structure for them?

Hello all, and thank you Yannis for this great plugin !

I am running into some trouble:

First, any idea why one of my pieces comes out as an "element that did not fit", considering I have plenty enough containers? In my definition it is part number 30 of 42. So neither the first nor the last. This is very problematic here as some pieces are disappearing from the result.

Second, it is a bit strange that Packrat starts packing elements well, one container after another, but suddenly skips containers. The only way to have it right is to have the exact number of containers for the elements (in my case 6 containers).

This last part leads me to wonder if there is any way to decide on the number of containers depending on how many Packrat would need ? i.e give a base container and let Packrat multiply it if need be in order to fit all the input elements.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated ! Thanks!

By the way, I am using the Educational version of the plugin.

Trying to make the definition more realistic, I use PackRat plugin to define container envelop (as my footprint envelop) and basic constraints (like circulation, Mechanical, Elev., ..).

My first issue is PakRat needs container as geometry and while I assign a brep to that it turns to orange. if I deconstruct my brep with DeconstructBox and translate it again to X Y Z it work but, it change the scales. Dont know why that happens!

My second issue is, this definition is first about relationship between modules and then pack them in an envelop but, after applying PakRat it looks like all of defined relationship is overridden by random placement of boxes for arbitrary result.

I am in time constraint for my thesis project and any help would be highly appreciated.

Attached you can find my original definition and the one PakRat added with 1 screenshot of what happened for wrong scale.

2, the indices of the packed objects do not match the ones of the input.

I believe 1, is cleary a serious bug.

For 2, I can somehow understand where you are coming from, but I wonder if it makes sense to a) either resort the packed items according to the inputs or b) also provide an additional output with an indexmap.

Since it seems you are already doing this for the transformations I´d opt for version a).

Sorry, can´t post the file, I will send it via email.

Thanks and Best,

Hi Yannis,

How about including a Transformation - Output?

Just noticed PackRat apparently redraws the boxes and doesn´t keep the order within the containers even with sort set to false, so it is a lot of reverse engineering, if you like to track back the transformations.

Best,
