algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Robert, hi all,

I am wondering about some functions in octopus (see attached) :

What does "diversify parameters" does exactly ?

How does ticking the boxes "C", "S" and max influence display and algorithm ?

Thanks for any help !

Hi!

'diversify parameters' adds an additional, internally handled goal which tries to maximize each solution's distance to all other solutions in genetic space.

'C' stands for colour, and 'S' for size. These are two additional dimensions to display more than three goals.

The option 'AxeView' gives the opportunity to show even more than those 3+2+1 (the one is the 3D model).

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your fast answer.

Does 'diversify parameters' works as well with SPEA-2 and HypE or shall I prefer one of them when I want to maximize diversity ?

Hi!

It basically works with any algorithm. The diversify option just adds a goal which is treated as any other one.

The algorithms mainly differ  in the truncation and selection of solutions with respect to multiple goals, and of course there are slight differences then in convergence / diversity maintenance behaviour.
