How to feed the custom first generation to octopus.e component?

Hello everyone,

The question is as title shows. I want to define the first generation composing of two sections: one is selected by myself, and the other is generated by random selection. How can I do to realize it? I have seen the sample example by using octopus.e. There is a wonder what is meaning of seed in the random component?

Thank you for help.

Is there someone who can give me some hints?Thank you. I urgently need it.

Hi Dan, I haven't used Octopus recently but as far as I remember you can feed the values to the solver from a text file. It should let you start with your desired values next to some randomly generated ones.

Hi Mostapha,

Thank you for your useful answer. And what version do you refer to? Octopus 1.0,2.0 or Octopus.e? I know the last one that allows to be fed custom first generation but needs many other proceduces designed by myself to achieve optimization. If you refer to the Octopus 1.0 or 2.0, I think I will save a lot of work and time. And do you remember where to feed the values in text file? There is a possible port named Phenotype in Octopus 2.0.

Bests,

Dan
