generative modeling for Rhino
Just released 0.6.1, containing some new functionality and bug fixes.
- Added option (context menu) for new data to append, prepend or replace old. Can be combined with flattening the D* input to create lists or trees.
- Reset now resets loop count.
- Step button is back; affects chosen component from dropdown list.
- Added an option do display or not updates (rhino viewport).
Thanks for sharing this great grasshopper plug-in.
As a side-note to this release, (and as mentioned in this discussion as well) I had some trouble with the function component maintaining correct paths within a structure. Not sure yet if it's a bug of hoopsnake, grasshopper or intended functionality, so I used the C# component instead in the listappend_tree example.
I was wondering if there is an hidden limit on how big the resulting lists can be, I had the loop stop after the list reached 2 pow 14 (sometimes 10000) elements.
I remember in earlier versions, Hoopsnake had the option to limit the size of the results, its probably still there somewhere but I cant find where.
Also, thanks for the step button (even if its labelled "loop all" on the HS panel =) )
The limit feature went to trash with the 0.6 update but will return in the next release along with a few other fixes.
Thanks for mentioning the step button issue, Tooltips can be pure evil sometimes! Will be fixed in the next release.
I installed the new 0.6.1 Hoopsnake release by drag and drop into the path:
this message appeared:
An error occured during GHA assembly loading:
Path: C:\Programme\Rhinoceros 4.0\Plug-ins\Grasshopper\Components\HoopSnake.gha
Message: Ein Eintrag mit dem gleichen Schlüssel ist bereits vorhanden.
could tou give me an advice?
I think you should drag it in the folder that opens in GH when you go to
File->Special Folders->Components Folder. (That should be the folder C:\Users\insert_your_name_here\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries, depending on your windows).
You may perhaps have to delete it from the old location.
With this version are you able to use the "Boolean Toggle" to activate and deactivate the loop? I was reading through the example files and it says it can, but i'm not sure how it works exactly.
I have this project that I want to use Hoopsnake, where variables that hoopsnake will use to calculate is inputted through a web interface and transferred into Grasshopper, so there will be new data constantly streaming in. I want hoopsnake to loop/play when new data from the website is inputted. But i can't seem to get hoopsnake to loop via a toogle or is this not possible at the moment?
Hope I was clear enough in my explanation. Thanks!
not really, this is not possible with the current version. I'll try to implement an approach I came up with lately to the next release.
