Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Good Morning,

I have been having some troubles with the python script. I am attaching the images with the errors. Furthermore, It said that it is failing to collect the shades data. Once I turned the toggles to true the OSM component turns red.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Santiago,
This issue is related with MapWinGIS folder's permissions. I has been reported a couple of times.
Check for the fix in this reply.

Thanks for your help. It is working right now but once I ran the program, it made grasshopper crashed. I'm trying to get the example file working but I couldn't.

thank you very much.

Hi Santiago,
So you modified the permissions for the "MapWinGIS" folder, and ran the Rhino and Grasshopper again. The "OSM shapes" component then ran successfully, but few seconds after that it made the Grasshopper crash? Or did I misunderstood your reply?

Hi Djordje,

yes, I got the example working for the buildings with their extrusions. The terrain is weird because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I am attaching some pictures that show the terrain errors. Furthermore, point and trees are the part of the script that made rhino crash. On other hand, do I need to buy Envi-met license? I am trying to get some extra information and Envi-data seems very good but I couldnt get the example working because it said that I have to buy it.

thanks in advance for your help and support.

Hi Santiago,

Thank you for the attached screenshots.

Can you please attach the .gh file that you are using?
Which information do you need to extract from ENVI-met?

Also have in mind that Gismo has been tested only on Rhino 5. It does not mean that it will not work on Rhino 6, but at the moment I we are not able to provide the support for Rhino 6.

For Ladybug "Terrain Generator" component: it is using free access to Google Maps APi. It is limited to certain number of elevation points, that you can "ask for".
That is why it fails to generate the terrain data.
So you can either decrease the radius, or decrease the accuracy by lowering the "_numOfTiles_", "_numOfDivisions_" inputs.
Also for the lower accuracy but larger radii, you can use the Gismo "Terrain Generator" component instead.

Hi Djordje,

I would like to get  the weather data and the wind data from  Envi-met  if possible. Besides, It works well in Rhino 6. Regard to the terrain generator is weird because even tho I change the radius it did not work. But if I change the units it start to work. The file that I am attaching is the example file that I got from internet.

thank you very much for your help

Santiago,

Please accept my apology for taking me too much to reply.

For the terrain component: the author of the component is working at the moment to insert some warning messages to it.
The reason why the component fails sometimes, and then after few seconds is working again, is because we are using free access to Google Maps API. The query to it, sometimes simply fails, without a reason. So you need to wait a couple of seconds and then rerun the component.

As for the wind analysis in ENVI-met, you don't need to buy a license, it is available in the basic-free version according to Antonello.

Is there some other weather data, which results in a "you need to buy ENVI-met license" message?
If it is, then which specific data?

Once again, sorry for the late reply.
