Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone, I am trying to join two meshes and subsequently bake the structure to GSA in order to perform an analysis. I am facing two problems though. First of all I am having a hard time joining the two meshes together. I know I could have used the Brep to Mesh command but I need to be able to change the number of elements on one of the meshes in order to perform a mesh refinement analysis. Moreover I would like to ask if there is a way to apply face loads on the elements as a function or something without having to do it by hand for each one of them (there are more than 1500 elements). Sorry if I am not being very accurate in my description of the problem. I have just starting using Grasshopper (less than one week ago). Hope the attached file could help you understand what is going on. Thanks in advance.

Hi Georgios,

Its an interesting question and model to post.

I've attached a script that will stitch the mesh, possibly there is a more straight forward means to do so but this should work (I can't recall if you have Bullant installed but I have used this).

You can compute loads as part of the script and apply them to elements as an algorithm within your script to vary the load without manual application.

Hope it helps.

Jon
