Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

my intent is to create facade panels with different coloured backpans. The panels should be separate objects in archicad. For this I though building element proxy types converted to transformed elements would be the way to go.

I am having trouble making a building element proxy out of a 'group' of representation items, each with different materials. Is there a way to do this?

The curtain wall component which makes an IFCRelAggregate seems to be the way to go, but I am having no joy.

attached is my grasshopper file and the ifc it generated.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for posting.  I've attached what I think is "best practise" for this.  I'd advise to use standard case components where ever possible.  I did open the file in Archicad (make sure you use ifc2x3 by right clicking on ggBake component, many of my sample models use IFC4 improvements).  But I don't really know how to check part material assignment.  Here's an image from solibri. I recall problems with Archicad and members, so maybe beam components might work better.

For the polyline member, I should make my plugin generate multiple members with the mitres on the corners.  The start/end isn't mitered in the present implementation although rhino/gh shows this).

Let me know if this helps or not.

Cheers,

Jon

Thanks Jon,

that is great, very helpful indeed.

This would be a good addition to the 'standard cases' example file!

Thanks again,

Rob
