Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guy,

I'm very new to firelfly and I have a problem to load the video file. I already convert my .mov to .avi file.  Can you give me a hint how to load the video in firefly.

This if my video: https://vimeo.com/117491458

I want to do something similar to this video (https://vimeo.com/117688682) that I use processing to capture the border.

Any advice.

Thanks in advance!!!

To load an .avi file, just use the video player and provide the path to the directory of your movie file. For the edge capture, you may be able to get close if you use the edge detection and/or threshold filters. Pass the image through the filter then use a bitmap painter component to render it on the canvas (so you can see how it looks). Best of luck.

Millions thanks Andy!!! ;)

hey Andy,

is there any way to make sure that frames aren't skipped while playing the video? it seems the 'video player' component automatically reduces the frame rate according to computing power in order to keep the original speed. in some cases - for instance while creating an extra layer for a prerecorded video clip - it isn't important to keep the original speed. it's more important that no frames are skipped in the process and it doesn't matter if the video slows down to provide this (as the outcome would be anyway compiled later in a different program).

the dream option would be to switch between video frames using a slider. I've tried to do this by using the image sequence of the prerecorded video frames, but some components like 'optical flow' only seem to accept 'video player' source. (the 'panel' labels both sources as 'firefly_bridge.firefly_bitmap' but there still seems to be a difference between 'image bitmaps' and 'video bitmaps' and I haven't found a way to convert one to the other.)

thanks in advance,

Johanna
