generative modeling for Rhino
hello there!
so i´m trying to work with diva for grasshopper, but somehow i´m in trouble go get in a workflow with it.
here my question: i´ve built a complex building and wanted to see what happens with the daylight factor when the skylights change sizes and number. the buliding also has fasade windows which are static. when running the similation it is just working with one of the skylights, the others and the fasade windows are not simulated. so i tried again with a more simple model. at first only with one skylight, simulation seems ok. then i´ve added a fasade window and ran the simulation again, result: just the fasade window is simulatet. attached are some pictures. why is there always only one opening shown in the simulation?
i am looking forward to your answers, i´d really like to work with this tools. thank you

First your daylight factor should be tested at given nodes pretty much like a testing grid in ecotect (if you are familiar with it) Second make sure that your file in saved in a physical hard drive. In my latest test using network Diva did not like much the location of the file so it returns pretty strange results. Then make sure you've give the right materials to your surfaces and also that their normals are facing outwards. If you share the scene and gh file maybe I can give it a look.
good luck

thanks for answering, yesterday i allready gave up while you wrote .. and guess what, ich wanted to send you that file and tried again and there it is: the grid shows the daylightfactor under the skylight an under the fasade window. but the thing is that i made everything like yesterday. it seems to me that diva has a saving problem or something. for example if i close a file and reopen it an other day the legend component is always missing. an otherthing is that yesterday i wanted to built the same model in a new file to see if it helps. i ran the visualization image and the vxfalsecolour player opend a black screen and the results folder was empty. but with the other file there was no problem. i´m running windows 7 via bootcamp, rhino 4 sr 9 and some days ago i have updated grasshopper and diva. i don´t understand why there are so many problems. thanks for your help.

in "eckgebäude i can`t run any simulation and oberlicht_neu you see above.

I think you can't run any simulation in "eckgebäude" because of the umlaut in the file name, that was an issue I had to deal with some time ago.
DIVA don't like any special symbols.
Hope this help you a liitle bit.
Best,
Martin.

thanks for your help, i haven´t had time to try, but i really hope the "ä" is the problem.
i´ll keep you informed.

i´ve tried without the "umlaut", visualization image worked now! i hope the rest too - thank you.

I am not clear about the other saving problems you are describing, but your are correct about the legend component. A revision of grasshopper required us to update the components with a piece of code to deal with the custom components being saved and we must have left the update out of the legend component. We will fix this in the next release, thanks.

thank you for answering. good to know that it isn´t my fault that the legend disappears.
i´m just wondering why sometimes simulations work out without any problem and sometimes there is no way to get an result. do you have an idea why, if you have a look at the pictures above, always just only one opening was considerd in the simulation? in another model i tried the same and had the same problems.
