Turning a 3 dimensional curve into a developable surface that will unroll to a straight strip.

Hi,

Let me begin by thanking you for taking the time to read this.

I am trying to figure out how to turn a 3d curve into a developable surface that if unrolled would be a straight strip. Essentially I am looking for something along the lines of Marten Nettelbladt's Tapeworm definition but I already have the curve that I want, now I need to create a surface using the curve as my centre line. I have tried various attempts to loft and sweep but as of yet have been unable to come up with a definition that gives me a flat strip when unrolled. The closest I came was by using Daniel Piker's definition on equalised segments to turn the curve into a series of planar segments that I then lofted and rotated until they intersected each other but there was still a gradual curve in the surface when unrolled.

I imagine the solution might lie in Kangaroo but I'm struggling to understand it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Enda
