algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey guys, I am trying to recreate this form(Softlab NYC), but i think im short on some logics. I used the basic mesh subdivision and then applied the kangaroo spring solver (but it appears to tighten the mesh too much) is there a better way to do it? or is it possible that these guys sliced the ends off before it starts pulling out again?

Any help will be appreciated, and will save me a lot of energy shooting in the dark!

Hey Aditya!

I saw that video, its way more advanced that what i am attempting but i would like to go through your definition and make sense of it.

I think what is immediately relevant to me is the creating of a uniformly subdivided mesh: smooth lines continuous through where the meshes branch etc and then apply the forces to pull it downward. 

now given that you have offered your help im probably going to bug you a bit while i stumble through your definition :D

hi tom! I beleive the form generated by SoftLAB was simulated through a solver: Karamba or Kangaroo maybe? I would like to replicate the process and not necessarily the exact form.

fair enough. 

how can the panelizing then be made to follow these continuous 'lines of force' rather than break where i would have to break the polysurface naturally? how would you model this? tspline?
