shadow on objects

One fairly rough way would be to mesh your objects very densely and cast a ray from every mesh vertex to test for self-intersection. This will allow you to visualize it but won't give you the nice curve outlines that the mesh shadow component does.

hey andrew!

thanks for your help.

however, I'm not able to make this definition work.

as you can see in the image below, the shadows are, well, wrong, and I have no idea how to fix this.

Do you know if there's some other way to visualize the shadows?

You've set it up properly, but it's important that the mesh be "Dense", meaning that it has many vertices. Try creating mesh boxes with 10x10x10 vertices to start. The resolution of the shadow is dependent on the resolution of the mesh.
