How can I get a plane to follow a vector where the x,y,z points change every time I move a number slider?

Permalink Reply by Earl Washington on April 28, 2012 at 5:42pm I've created a"Plane Normal", how do i create a plane that is perpendicular to that "Plane Normal"?

You can create a Plane from an origin point and a normal vector, but the rotation of this plane is under-constrained and therefore unpredictable. You may get a more consistent result by rotating an existing plane to match a new z-direction. However there is no component for minimally rotating planes to match a new Z-axis direction, so you'll need to combine other components to achieve this.

I just wrote an Adjust Plane component which performs minimal rotation on a plane until its Z-Axis points in the same direction as a custom vector. Will be available in the next release.

You could do it now using a Rotate component and some plane components, but it will be nice to just do this simple task in one step.
